  • Read the "Adopting an Alaskan Malamute" article to make sure Malamute adoption is right for you, your family and your other pets.

  • Contact the organisations listed below regarding the dogs they have available for adoption.

REHOMING: If you have an Alaskan Malamute you can no longer keep:

Contact the rescue organisation for your State (see list below).

RESCUE ORGANISATIONS:

AN EASY WAY YOU CAN ASSIST US WITH MALAMUTE RESCUE:

If you see a Malamute listed in an animal shelter that is not on our website, please email us at amcvinc@gmail.com or contact the AMCV Referral Officer

The sooner they are listed on the relevant rescue websites, the more chance we have of saving them.

PLEASE NOTE:

Malamutes most often DO NOT get along with dogs of the same sex - if you already have a dog you should only consider adopting a Malamute of the opposite sex.

Please look at adopting from your local area or same State if possible for the following reasons:

  • This allows you (and your dogs) to meet the new dog to make sure everyone will get along before you make your decision.

  • You can then take a dog for a trial period (which we strongly recommend) and easily return the dog if it does not work out.

  • This will avoid the need for long distance travel which may be difficult to organise and may be traumatic for some dogs.

Please visit the Arctic Rescue Victoria  website for more details on dogs for adoption or foster.

Please note that dogs listed are in no way assessed by the AMCV, we are simply assisting in getting those wanting to adopt a Malamute in touch with organisations who have Malamutes needing new homes. The AMCV is in no way endorsing or recommending these Malamutes as being suitable for you - this is for you to determine.
This list may not have the most up-to-date information, so please visit the rescue group websites or Facebook pages for the latest details of dogs for adoption.
